Carnaby Street #StreetStyle

I went shopping on Carnaby Street today and took my camera along to try and capture some the outfits of shoppers. Although going on a Tuesday morning was great for me shopping wise, as there is nothing worse than Oxford Street and surrounding areas on a Saturday it did mean footfall was limited.. so trying to find great outfits was not the easiest! I did however manage to find a few shoppers and here are my best dressed.

Alexis, 19, Student
This fluffy oversized coat is contrasted perfectly with super skinny jeans. She has kept it all black everything with patent Doc Martins and a 90's inspired black choker.

Max, 23, Shop Assistant (Adidas)
This understated outfit takes two classic items, the Oxford shirt and light wash straight leg jeans and gives them an urban/modern twist by adding a snapback and Adidas gazelles.

Alice, 20, Student
Mom jeans and a knitted cardigan paired with a simple silk black cami and cute ankle boots make this outfit laid back yet chic.

Rachel Green - Style Inspiration

If you know me you know that 3 of my favourite things are Fashion, FRIENDS, and the 90s - all of which Jennifer Anniston encompasses as Rachel Green in the first few seasons of the show. I grew up watching FRIENDS as it was one of the only programs everyone in the house agreed on, it has definitely influenced my sense of humour and all though I didn't realise at the time it has influence my personal style too.

I have collected together a few of my favourite looks/styles that 'Rachel Green' wore in the mid 90's that I have either been inspired by or just appreciate.

Casual/Laid Back
Mens shirts and oversized sweatshirts is my idea of effortless cool. This is definitely the part of her style I relate with most as my personal style is generally very laid back and often takes influence from classic shapes and styles.

Cute outfits including mini skirts cinched at the waist
Some of Rachel's more 'put together' looks often included a mini skirt paired with a various styles of tops. Although a lot of time I just wear jeans if I do bother putting a proper outfit together it will usually include a mini skirt/dress.

Denim
Considering it was the 90s it's hardly surprising she wore a lot of denim, including a lot of denim vests which I'm not sure i'll be wearing anytime soon but looks great on her. Unfortunately I could never pull off dungarees like Rachel Green but my denim jacket does get chucked on with every other outfit.

- OSCARS Best Dressed -

Lupita Nyong'o and Naomi Watts
Yet again Lupita Nyong'o is my best dressed! She looks stunning in this elegant Prada gown, the colour, which she said reminded her of her home country Nairobi, is so beautiful against her skin tone and the delicate jewellery she paired with it really pulls the outfit together, it was in my opinion the perfect dress to pick up her first Oscar at her first award season! Secondly Naomi Watts also looked amazing in this white textured Calvin Klein Collection dress, I am a big fan of Calvin Klein Collection dresses as they are always so understated and flawless and this was no expectation, I love that she paired it with slightly rockier hair and accessories to balance the look out.
Jared Leto and Joseph Gordon-Levitt
My best dressed men at Oscars were Jared Leto in Saint Laurent and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Calvin Klein Collection. Leto was one of a few men who opted for white blazer and I absolutely love the look its very old Hollywood, and the red bow tie(also a big trend) was a great touch. Joseph Gordon-Levitt looks sharp as per usual and the slightly metallic tinge to the suit makes it more interesting.

BEST AWARD CEREMONY TO AFTER PARTY TRANSITION
Chrissy Teigen and Kate Hudson
Both Chrissy Teigen and Kate Hudson looked great for the main award ceremony and the Vanity Fair after party. Chrissy Teigen started the evening in this beautiful Monique Lhuillier floral gown and later changed into this black sequin number for the after party. Kate Hudson wore this grecian style Versace Atelier gown for the award ceremony and then stuck with a similar shaped dress in the form of this equally stunning Zuhair Murah gown for the party.

It was a great night for fashion, as everyone really stepped up their game for Hollywood's biggest night! Leave a comment letting me know what you thought of the 2014 Oscars fashion and don't forget to follow on bloglovin, GFC or email.

- Feburary Wish List -

1. ASOS white jeans
2. ASOS black Chelsea boots
3. Retro Head sports bag
4. H&M gold earrings set
5. H&M plain V-neck tees
My wish list this month basically creates an outfit that I want, I really love the idea of white skinnies for spring/summer and I love how this pair have the rip at the knee making them slightly more chilled/casual. I also really need to invest in some more basic tees to wear with jeans such a the white ones. I love H&M t-shirts, they fit so nicely and I don't have any V-neck tees so I am intrigued to see if they suit me. I love these Chelsea boots from ASOS as I they are slightly different looking to ones I have seen before, I think the slimmer fit and slightly warn colour make them really understated but cool. Lastly although I still love the 90's I am also starting to love certain styles from the 80's such as this retro sports bag and these gold earrings.

Talking Trends - GINGHAM

I think gingham is going to massive this spring summer, its a great transition from the winter tartan trend as well as the hounds tooth trend that started to become popular around the end of last year as its a much lighter way to wear a check. I really love this trend , I thinks its absolutely adorable and so cute for spring. Here are a collection of some of my favourite pieces ...
1. ASOS dress
2.Topshop socks (blue and pink)
3.Topshop Co-ord
4. Missguided jumper
5. Lavish Alice sweatshirt
6.Topshop blouse, dress and socks
7. Etsy shop hair bow
8. Missguided jumper

HOW I STYLE

I took one of my favourite pieces from above, this ASOS gingham smock dress and decided to stay with a monochrome theme by adding this crop Topshop jumper, plain black ankle socks and white jelly sandals.

Golden Globes & SAG Awards Fashion

Award season is officially underway, which means I am going to be watching a lot of E! live from the red carpet and indulging my self in the beautiful dresses I could never afford, the first two major award shows are the Screen Actors Guild awards and the Golden Globes, here are my best dressed from each..

SAG
Lupita Nyong'o (left) and Isla Fisher (right)
My first pick is Lupita Nyong'o in Gucci, although I am not a massive fan of the floral aspect of the dress I definitely think it's an essential part of the design and takes the dress from being too simple to something really stunning, secondly the colour looks so incredible against her skin tone and I love how the blue eye shadow ties the look together. I'm also loving Isla Fisher in Oscar de la Renta, I am a sucker for old Hollywood glamour and I feel this look epitomizes it, the delicate dress mirrors the soft curls in her hair and the look is finished off with tasteful jewellery and a deep red lip.

Golden Globes
Tatiana Maslany (left) and Lupita Nyong'o (right)
Although the whole look isn't perfect there is something I really love about this Jenny Packham dress on Tatiana Maslany. In an ideal world the tailoring around her waist would be better and her hair would be in a similar style to Isla Fishers above, that being said I think the dress is stunning due to simplistic shape and intricate detailing. Secondly, again I love Lupita Nyong'o which is unsurprising since she has already been dubbed Hollywood's new fashion it girl, she clearly has a thing for simple shapes and bold block colours. This Ralph Lauren cape dress is one of the best things I have seen on the red carpet for a while, I love how she kept it simple with minimalistic makeup and jewellery and made sure that the dress remained the focus.

- September Wish List -

1. Boohoo tartan dress (buy here)
2. Topshop handbag (buy here)
3. Topshop pleather shorts (buy here)
4. Chicwish jumper (buy here)
5. Topshop leigh jeans (buy here)
Firstly I would like to apologise for the majority being Topshop, I ,like many, am guilty of loving topshop too much even with the sometimes unreasonable prices. The first topshop piece is a replacement pair of black leigh jeans, I got a pair around 3/4 years ago and I have worn them so much that they are now more grey than black so I think its time to get a new pair as I know I will wear them a lot now its staring to get colder. Continuing with topshop, the next thing I'm lusting over is this pale blue tote, I love that its so simple but the super pretty colour makes it such a great piece. The last topshop item is this pair of black lazer cut pleather shorts, these are such a cool piece and would look really great with a contrasting pretty jumper like the Chicwish one also on my wish list. I recently discovered Chicwish through watching a sunbeamjess video on youtube where she had picked up a few pieces, I instantly checked out the website because I love finding online shops that I didn't know about, as I try not to wear all high street stuff that everybody has, its such a good site and I literally love everything! Lastly I picked out this tartan dress from boohoo, its bang on trend but in a quite subtle way due to the navy and green pattern as apposed to the classic red pattern which can be a little out there and more difficult to style in terms of the colour scheme.

I hope you like my picks,

Talking Trends - "Any colour ... so long as its PINK"

According to this months British Vogue, pink is the colour of the season, there is a lovely 12 page spread featuring 'model of the year', Cara Delevingne looking stunning in various pink designer ensembles, with pieces by Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton. I have put together a collection of my favourite pink pieces from the high-street and online to make the trend more affordable and accessible to those of us who can only dream of designer labels.

1. Topshop dress (buy here)
This is such an adorable dress, actually quite designer looking in my opinion, its perfect for a wedding or formal party. Style it with white pumps like these, and a cropped white blazer like this (to show off your waist) then add a simple silver necklace for a pretty, classy look.

2. Topshop lipstick in macaroon (buy here)
If you don't want to make quite such a statement but still have a subtle hint of the trend, a pink lip is a great way to go. Wear with a super minimal make up look and simple outfit to really make the lip pop.

3. EBay sun jellies in cherry (buy here)
I was loving my pair of navy jellies this summer, and I think this pink pair are super cute! Pray for some sunshine and wear with some denim shorts like these and a plain white cropped tee for a Kylie Jenner style look, or if you live in England like me and its starting to get cold trade out the shorts for mom jeans like these and add some white ankle socks.

4.Nasty gal dress (buy here)
I'm obsessed with this dress its so stunning! Its perfect for a evening out on holiday with some pretty metallic sandals like these and a light cardigan if it gets chilly.

5.American Apparel hair bow (buy here)
This little bow is so cute and is another way to wear the trend subtly, I feel like the colour is the cornflower blue of pinks! It would look really pretty against light blonde hair with a girly white dress like this and the look could be toughened up with some Jeffery Campbell's like these.

6. Topshop mom jeans (buy here)
Another way to wear the pink trend is by mixing it with another trend such as mom jeans, this baby pink pair from topshop would look awesome with a baseball style tee like this (which I would buy 1/2 sizes too big then tuck in the jeans for a slouchy look) and some white supergas.

7. River island stilettos (buy here)
Im not sure if I would be daring enough to wear these however I do think they a very cool and very kardashian/jenner-esque. Since they are such statement I would go with a dressed down approach to styling them with some boyfriend style jeans like these and a white tee.

hope you like my picks do let me know what you think in the comments!
